The goal of the project is to produce a dry powder from OrganoClick’s water-based formulations that today can be used as water and fat barriers in home-compostable and recyclable food packaging. Together, DUNI, The Loop Factory and OrganoClick intend to test the hypothesis if it is possible, with the help of the dry powder, create the conditions to develop a 100% bio-based, home-compostable fat- and water-repellent food tray. The desired effects are to replace (1) paper-based products containing fluorinated substances, (2) laminated paper products and also (3) a significant part of the market in plastic packaging as the trend is very clear towards moving away from plastic that is not home compostable at all.
