This project aims at testing a hypothesis that transparent paper, a new material innovation developed by KTH and BillerudKorsnäs, can be used in packaging to replace plastic. Since the use of fossil-based plastic in packaging is high, the use of the novel biomaterial instead would contribute to the governmental implementation plan for Agenda 2030 that focus on circular and biobased economy. In this project, the hypothesis is tested by making of a demonstrator packaging using transparent paper, and by developing of a business concept for the new, transparent biomaterial in order to investigate its market potential and how it meets the material demands for packaging applications.
